Hoo Boy here we go again/Why I drive Honda's and Toyota's

ok..the big three can make a kick ass car....the NEW Vette 604Hp/Mustang 500GT KR 540 Hp/a sweet modernized Dodge Challenger Hemi 425Hp....wow.
then....well then there's the crap they make and think we'll buy, just cause it's " 'merican made"

2005-2006 Ford F-150/Lincoln Mark LT has a major recall item, a "brake hose" is making almost 700,000 Trucks potential
"I cant stop" mobiles.....great , a three valve 300Hp v8 three ton truck with non power brakes.
just..."sheesh", to think after the kaa frickin zillion millions of miles of testing, this problem...NEVER came up,not once???

I need to insert here why I'll never buy a new ford,aw hell...I just wont buy Fords.
It seems back in the early seventies they were making a potential exploding automobile, this "car" (land mine) was known as the PINTO, the hatchback has the issues. they also produced a station wagon and was however fairly safe....slow,ugly,but safe
however the Hatchback was a four cylindar, rear drive , smaller sized car that was made to address the gas shortage of the time in question....great idea, but.....
well, seems that the car had a major concern , a moderate rear impact would shove the gas tank towards the rear axle , then break the tank open, create sparks... then as if you didnt already get it, light off with the gasoline cooking all the inhabitants of the car to death...oh yeah, that's : "a better idea"(old sales pitch line from Ford)
Ford could've fixed this....$70.00 per car for a steel shield to make the impact divert AWAY from the gas tank, and then not leak fuel in a rear impact collision to that pinto. (this is about 200.00 in today's dollars and that would be a generous number, to ford)
but Ford didnt.....THEY DID NOT FIX ONE OF THESE POTENTIAL FIREBOMBS.....

hell, no...it "cost too much"

instead?
they looked at the insurance accident rates, "figured' that it was 'cheaper to pay the death benefits, versus the retrofit of the car as a whole production figure"
Translation;they gambled with the lives of, and killed people , all in the name of profits. also note with the internet, you can look this up and find out... I'm... not... lying... their.... scumbags... for... doing... that

Disgusting,
I found out about this year's ago and decided then, there, and more then likely for my entire lifetime.
no Fords....ever, will disgrace my property.
I wont play party to people with such callous disregard for another persons life, just for profit.

My Rides;
Toyota..

1995 Toyota Corolla (157,000 miles),

no not this car..this is a representative picture
to date, my daily driver car has asked for not a whole lot of new parts.
the usual run of the mill: battery, struts, brakes , tires, oil, gas....and a remanufactured starter.

that's pretty much it, the starter STILL worked, just took a couple of dozen key turns to engage, but when it finally engaged..it started.

Honda..

1995 Honda Del Sol Si

a pretty not very noticeable RED Del Sol...
well not to me at least , who's not making cars red at this point?

I've ducked a cop or two when they tailed me,
"just to see if I was speeding in a red sports car", guess it's the cost of being in a "cop bait color".

cops dont worry me...too many tickets and fines paid to worry about a non jailable "offense".

it's the PART THIEVES I live in mortal fear of...
the 1992-1995 Honda Civic is so universal that the go fast parts on some,
fit all of them, Honda makes almost everything interchangeable..
especially the neat Japanese only stuff.
DelSol I have is an Si,
(Sport Injection, the better then stock versions, from honda),
so I have a engine that parts of it are desireable to the tuner crowds.

some backround knowledge.....
when Honda made a real drivers car (Besides the NSX)
it was the much beloved Integra Type R. the problem though was simply this.
it was so much of a fount of goodies (engine/transmission/suspension,wheels,interior),
some insurance agencies wont touch them at this point, they are that much on thieves wanted lists.
also their fairly rare birds as well....
shame really, they're great cars, were built for, and by the road racing enthusiast's.

1985 CRX Si

which has yes...rusted , but the drivetrain?

this runs better then some new cars, still hangs with newer six cylindars and much improved technology that eclipsed the old tech with simply sheer road holding ability....
(smoked a yuppie driving a BMW 325i on a cloverleaf, passed him and then left him in the dust)
however, all those "improvements" seem to have removed the driver from the equasion.

and has cost to date?

even after a new floor installed, and fixing the previous owners not too great ghettorific technology....
sub two thousand dollars for a peppy , fun , over grown gocart that has heat, wipers,a radio...
and it eats like a motorcycle.

I fill the eight gallon tank.... maybe, after a few weekends of fun...regular gas too.

people hate when I throw four gallons in and the pump clicks off,the sunroof is open, tunes cranked, and I'm laughing driving away from the gas station,as they keep kaaatunking dollars into their tanks.

2006 CR-V EX AWD....

My G/F has the best of most breeds, would you like a truck that drives like a car,and gets decent gas mileage?
it is averaging in mixed driving at least 20-22MPG..not too bad for a truck.
get one..
the AWD rocks,we had two feet of snow, drifting powder..no problem, drove right through it.
Ice?....the stability system flat out rocks(set a litle low for my driving style, turn it off...you'll notice immediately).
it has very good interior room , adults simply fit, the A/C will freeze you out,the radio is decent for a midlevel truck , cassette AND CD(XM OFFERED AS AN OPTION),excellent handling for a "truck"..more like a "CUTE-UTE"

More car posts to come later, this just caught my eye...

and, as always..

to absent companions,Hoist one

I agree. The new Vette makes me drool like a madman (Ive been a Vette fan since I was a kid) and the new Challenger looks sweet too.

My Chevy Silverado has had zilch problems, but Ford I cant say the same about. I remember the Pinto, and to add humiliation to injury the late model Crown Vics have the same problem.
